Pre-Dentistry

Associate of Science Degree in Science and Mathematics

Go to Course Schedule

Dental care and correction have become a sophisticated branch of medicine and dentists are professionals of great importance to the health of the public. Dental schools require at least three to four years of college pre-dental education with an emphasis on science and math. Liberal arts courses are also significant for meeting college entrance requirements.

This two-year degree meets the prerequisites of a bachelor of science degree designed to prepare students for entry into dental school. Students who complete the associate degree program are able to transfer as juniors to an institution which offers a fou r year pre-dentistry degree.

Careers in the dentistry continue to have better than average employment projections through the year 2005 and beyond. Educational requirements, particularly in the sciences, are rigorous and precise and admission to baccalaureate pre-dentistry programs a nd eventually to dental schools is very competitive. Students are encouraged, therefore, to seek the assistance of the College's counseling staff to identify transfer institutions offering appropriate bachelor of science programs.
