Once you download the mIRC 5.51 program, 32 bit Win 95 version (960 K), install it on your computer.
After opening the mIRC program you will see the information about
mIRC program as shown below:
Now close this page then select file then options then highlight
"connect" then fill up the information regarding yourself as shown below:

Now from the file then from options double click on
"logging". Make selections, now your screen should look as follows:

Now in order to connect to an IRC server go to file then select connect. After a few trials you will be connected to a remote IRC server. Once you see a message to that effect, proceed to join a channel.
I have selected the channel #beginner as shown below then clicked on
Join:

Now I have joined the channel named beginner as shown below:

Now participate in the chat for a few minutes then go to the file menu and select disconnect.
If you open file then options, then double click on "logging" you will see a log file named #beginner or whatever your channel name was as shown below. This file would capture your chat session from the time you connected until you disconnected. Once you are done chatting disconnect from the file menu.

Now Select the view option to view the contents of the log.

Now you could send this log file to your instructor either using the
Netscape Communicator E-mail or by first uploading this file to your UNIX
server then e-mailing it to him.
