Homework: Regular homework is assigned at the end of each class meeting and will be gone over in the next class if you ask for it.
Tests: There will be two major tests given during the semester. makeup tests are not automatic; you must discuss this with the instructor promptly should an emergency arise that prevents you from taking a test.
Labs: Lab groups will be formed during the first week of class. One person each week will be repsonsible for writing up and handing in the lab report. A collaborative effort is strongly encouraged; however, if for the actual write-up a student wishes to write an individual report, that is permitted. EACH STUDENT MUST DO THE WRITE-UP FOR AT LEAST THREE LABS DURING THE SMESTER. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN POINTS DEDUCTED FROM YOUR TOTAL SEMESTER ACCUMULATION.
Projects: there will be projects assigned during the semester; these will be worked on as described under Labs.
Reading memos/Quizzes: there will be no makeup reading memos or quizzes. The instructor will drop your lowest quiz grade when computing your final average.
Deadlines:
Monday:
Lab writeups (typed) from the lab of previous week are due at the beginning of the lab. Make sure that the names of all members of your team who contributed are listed, and indicate who wrote the lab writeup this time.
Tuesday:
Projects are due Tuesday at the beginning of class. Again make sure that the names of all members of your team who contributed are listed, and indicate who wrote up the project this time.
Wednesday:
Each student sends a personal email reading memo to nthornbe@rvcc.raritanval.edu with the title UCI-RMW8 (corresponding to Unified Calculus I - Reading Memo Week 8, for example) by midnight, Wednesday evening, NJ time. Late reading memos will not be accepted. The reading memo should be about one or two paragraphs long, and it should have your personal comments and reactions to the reading (with specific DETAILS relating to the reading). It will be graded on whether it is there on time. Some weeks there may not be a reading memo, and there may be a quiz instead. If so, this will be announced ahead of time.
