Laboratory Experiments, by Jerry D. Wilson,
Fifth Edition, D. C. Heath and Company
Materials:
A scientific calculator is a necessity.
Attendance:
Regular
attendance is expected and required. See Attendance and Grading Procedures
in
the Student Handbook or in the catalog for the official college policy.
If you miss a class,
please
send me an email explaining your absence. Students who miss more
than 20% of the
scheduled
meeting time may be withdrawn from the course.

Regular homework is assigned
at the end of each class meeting and will be
gone over in the next class
if you ask for it.
Tests:
There will be four major
tests given during the course. All tests are closed book,
closed notes, but calculators
are allowed. Attendance at tests and at the final is required.
Labs:
Student Groups:
Lab groups will be formed
during the first lab of class. For each lab, one person
will be repsonsible for
writing up and handing in the lab report. A collaborative
effort is strongly encouraged;
however, if for the actual write-up a student wishes
to write an individual report,
that is permitted. Each student
must
do
the writeup for at least three labs during the
course.
Failure
to do this will result in points deducted from your total course accumulation.
Credit:
To receive credit,
the student must have been present during the lab itself.
Also, the lab must be handed
in on time, namely at the beginning
of the
next
lab. Late
labs will not be accepted. In
addition, the
lab writeup must be typed.
Make sure that the names of all members of your team
who contributed are listed,
and indicate who wrote the lab writeup this time. The
advance study assignment
for the lab you will be doing on a given day must be
handed in at the beginning
of the labfor credit to be
received.
The lowest lab grade will be dropped in computing the final average..
Quizzes:
There will be no makeup
quizzes. The instructor will drop your lowest quiz grade (out of
six quizes) when computing
your final average.
Final Exam:
Attendance at the scheduled final examination is mandatory.
