Configuring Netscape for E-mail

Before you can use Netscape to send and receive E-mail, you need to configure it. At home, this is something you only need to do once. However, in the computer labs at the College, you need to configure it everytime you need it. And, remember t o delete it again after you have used it. Otherwise, the next student using the same computer will be able to send E-mail in your name.

  1. In Netscape, click on Edit | Preferences
  2. The Preferences window opens. Make sure that you click on the + sign preceding Mail & Groups to expand the list.

  1. Click on Identity
  2. Fill in the Your name: box with your full name
  3. Fill in the E-mail address box with your E-mail address

  1. Don't click on OK yet
  2. Click on Mail Server in the Category box on the left
  3. Fill out Mail server user name: with your rvcc login name
  4. Fill out Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: rvcc.raritanval.edu
  5. Fill out Incoming mail server: rvcc.raritanval.edu
  1. Now, click OK to save the information
  2. Remember to delete your information after you are done using Netscape E-mail
