This exercise demonstrates the creation of a simple animated gif using a special program called Gif Construction Set (shareware). An animated gif consists of two or more frames, which may be set to loop indefinitely. See the course Web page for information about how to get the program.
Steps:
- Start with the two images located on the course Web page. Download the images to disk by right clicking the image. Then click on Save image as to save the image to your disk with the filenames of image1.gif and image2.gif. Or, you can create your own similar images using Paint Shop Pro.
- Open Gif Construction Set
- Click on File, then Animation Wizard
- Read the Welcome message and click on Next
- Select Yes, for use with a Web page (default), then click on Next
- Select Loop indefinitely (default), then click on Next
- Select Drawn, then click on Next
- Select 100 hundredth (default), then click on Next
- Click on Select
- This opens the Open window
- Click on image1.gif, then click on Open
- Click on image2.gif, then click on Open
- Close that window
- Back in Animation Wizard you should see your two files in the textarea
- Click on Next
- Read the message, then click on Done
- To test your animation click on the View button
- REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR NEW GIF, BEFORE YOU CLOSE GIF CONSTRUCTION SET.
